Th17 cytokines regulate profibrotic cytokines release by human eosinophils

چکیده
Rationale Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the lung airways that is associated with airway remodeling and hyperresponsiveness. One of the most critical structural changes that affect airway functionality is fibrotic tissue deposition within the airway wall. Eosinophils have been proposed in different studies to contribute to the production of several mediators and cytokines, including the profibrotic cytokines, TGF-b and IL-11. In this study, we hypothesize that cytokines prevailing in asthmatic tissue such as Th1, Th2, and Th17 cytokines, may induce eosinophils to produce pro-fibrotic cytokines.

متن کاملTh17 cytokines induce pro-fibrotic cytokines release from human eosinophils
BACKGROUND Subepithelial fibrosis is one of the most critical structural changes affecting bronchial airway function during asthma. Eosinophils have been shown to contribute to the production of pro-fibrotic cytokines, TGF-β and IL-11, however, the mechanism regulating this process is not fully understood. OBJECTIVE In this report, we investigated whether cytokines associated with inflammatio...
متن کاملMechanisms of eosinophil cytokine release.
Human eosinophils have been demonstrated to contain a multitude of cytokines and chemokines that exist pre-formed within these cells. This content of pre-formed cytokines, with diverse potential biologic activities, provides eosinophils with capabilities distinct from most other leukocytes. The localization of pre-formed cytokines within eosinophils is both within specific granules and associat...
متن کاملBiology of TH17 Lymphocytes, their Cytokines and Role in Disease
T lymphocytes that are involved in cellular mediated immunity include two types known as TCD8+ (Cytotoxic T lymphocytes) and TCD4+ (helper T lymphocytes). TCD4+ has four main subtypes, including TH1, TH2, TH17, and Treg Lymphocytes.TH17 lymphocytes play a role in defense against microbes that TH1 and TH2 lymphocytes have not the ability to respond to them. The most important cytokines, which ar...
متن کاملMolecular mechanisms of cytokine and chemokine release from eosinophils activated by IL-17A, IL-17F, and IL-23: implication for Th17 lymphocytes-mediated allergic inflammation.
IL-17A and IL-17F are members of the IL-17 family that play crucial roles in allergic inflammation. Recent studies reported that IL-17A and IL-17F production from a distinct Th lymphocyte subset, Th17, was specifically induced by IL-23, which was produced by dendritic cells and macrophages in response to microbial stimuli. The IL-23-IL-17 axis might therefore provide a link between infections a...
